Sip & Savor is a live venue finder. It is built to know as little about you as possible: no account, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics trackers, and no sale or sharing of personal data — ever.

What the app uses, and why

• Your location (optional). If you tap “Near me” or allow location, your device's coordinates are used to search venues around you and to show walking distance. Coordinates are sent to our search server and to public map/geocoding services as a point on the map only — never together with your name, email, or any identifier, because the app doesn't have any. Deny location and everything still works by typed search.
• Searches. Search areas (e.g. “Dublin, 5 km”) are processed by our server to compile venue results. Compiled results for an area are cached and shared so the next person searching there gets instant results. These caches describe places, not people.
• On-device storage. Preferences (map style, filters, saved venue flags) live in your browser/app storage on your device. They never leave it. Clearing the app's site data deletes them completely.
• Anonymous diagnostics. If a search fails, a technical error log (timings, source errors, device model string) may be sent to our server to fix bugs. It contains no identity and is deleted automatically.
• Abuse protection. Our server applies short-lived rate limits keyed by network address to keep the service free for everyone; these expire within hours and are not used for anything else.

Services the app talks to

Venue data and maps are compiled live from public sources: OpenStreetMap/Overpass, the Overture Maps Foundation, Wikidata, Photon geocoding, CARTO map tiles, and public government business registers where available. Requests to these services carry only the map area being searched. If you choose to add your own API key (e.g. Google Places or Apify) in Settings, that key is stored only on your device and used only for your own requests, governed by that provider's terms.

Community contributions

If you flag a venue (e.g. “wrong location” or a venue attribute), the flag — venue name and map position only — joins the shared dataset that improves results for everyone. Flags carry no information about who submitted them.

Age

Sip & Savor helps find venues that serve alcohol and adult-oriented nightlife, and is intended for users of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction (17+/18+ store rating). It lists publicly available information about legal businesses only.

Your rights & contact

Since the app holds no account and no personal profile, there is nothing for us to look up, correct, or export about you. To erase everything local, clear the app's storage or uninstall. Questions: jmccartyth@gmail.com.
